Special education modified material

I am a high school special education inclusion teacher. I am not sure how to add modified independent practice to the canvas page that will only be available to kids who need modifications.

I am a regular education teacher wondering the same thing!!  We are currently trying to put an "A" at the end of the adapted materials in our playlists, but it would be much better if only the special education students could see just their adapted materials and the regular education students see just their work.  In the spring we tried having an adapted materials folder for the kids to go to, but that was too much moving around for them.  They would get to the file, complete the work, and then forget to turn it in to the correct assignment.  It was not successful for 8th graders with executive functioning issues.

We are running into the same problem, We need to find a way to assign the modified project to just my special ed kids without regular ed kids being able to see there is a different assignment.

Here’s what we’ve come up with so far:  At the beginning of the year I use canvas’s groups to create a group of students that will be receiving adapted materials - I can easily add and remove students throughout the year. As I create playlists, I list the regular ed assignment and underneath of that I write “academic study - current date”.The academic study portion is a class only our special education students take. The current date, say it is Dec 9 is a link to the adapted assignment.  For each regular ed assignment I post, I create a separate adapted assignment that is scored as “complete/incomplete” with a submission type as “no submission” and then I check the box for “group assignment” and assign it ONLY to the special ed group I created at the beginning of the year. If I want to grade their adapted assignment, I usually write that they should submit it to “xyz assignment” which is a live course link to the regular education assignment. At the beginning of the year our special education teacher goes over how to access adapted materials during her academic study class.
