I was grading student presentations in Speed Grader. The required format was MS PowerPoint. When I pulled up submissions in Speed Grader, the following was displayed...see the screenshot below. I use speed grader all the time and relay upon it to accurately display files submitted by students. I assumed the students were using an evaluation copy of some type of software rather then MS PPT. I was wrong...this issue is due to some type of API. This issue will now force me to download each individual file to see if it is formatted correctly. So, the value of Speed Grade is greatly diminished.
Is this an issue with Instructure/Canvas?
If so, can it be fixed?
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Thanks!
Hello @dhoward4 - I just checked two of my prior courses that have students submit a PowerPoint .pptx file and I am not seeing the same watermark. And I tested a new submission of a pptx file to an assignment and didn't see it there either. The watermark refers to Aspose.Slides for Java which is a tool that can be used to create and edit PowerPoint files. See here for details on the tool: Aspose.Slides | Java Library to Process PowerPoint Formats
Also, are you seeing this with certain students? Perhaps ask them if they are using this Aspose tool.
Hi @dhoward4,
I'm guessing the file was submitted early in June, does that sound right? There was an issue around this that was resolved on June 2, but even when the issue was resolved, things uploaded during the issue probably will have the watermark remain.
