I teach programming courses and get my students to upload files(.py, .cpp, .h) into Canvas for me to grade. When I am grading in SpeedGrader, it pulls up the files for some of my students and buffers (endlessly) for other students. Before anyone says that it is due to the type of file being uploaded, SpeedGrader was always able to pull up these files in previous semesters. Is there a way to fix this issue without having to download each submission?

It's possible, I guess, that something may have changed over the Summer. I think the best thing to do would be to contact Canvas Support. They would be able to do a bit more digging on this for you vs. what we Community members can do here. You might want to reach out to them and then come back to this thread to provide an update for us.
@JamieLambert ...
Out of curiosity, are your students submitting the actual *.py, *.cpp, and/or *.h files to you via your Canvas assignment(s)? Or, are they first zipping up their files in *.zip files and attaching those to submit to you? Yes, there are only certain files that are viewable within the SpeedGrader. You can find a listing of those in:
What types of files can be previewed in Canvas? - Instructure Community - 607 (canvaslms.com)
Are there any differences you might be able to pinpoint comparing previous semesters to now? Just trying to do some initial brainstorming here.
Hope to hear back from you soon.
They have been submitting those file types in my courses unzipped every semester for the past 7 years. It does pull up the files for some students and not for others. It seemed to have started doing this more during this summer, and I am not sure if there was an update that may have lost some of functionality that I am used to.
