Two attempts and manually grading questions

I set up a quiz which pulled questions from a question bank.  Some of the questions were essay questions, and so had to be graded manually, but since it was a question bank not all students were asked one of these questions.  Students were allowed two attempts for each quiz.  The gradebook seems to only be flagging one of the two attempts as in need of grading.  Is there any way to force it to show all ungraded questions?  The class is large enough that I would prefer not to manually check each student for both submissions to see what needs to be graded.

Thank you

@jkilbride1 , for the quiz settings, how are you having it set to calculate the grade - since there are multiple attempts? I wonder if you switched this to the average if it would then prompt you to grade all of them - in both submissions?
