Using a second, Quiz 2, option instead of multiple attempts on one Quiz...

We currently have students take Quiz 1 and if they score satisfactorily, they are done. If they fail Quiz 1, they have the option to take Quiz 2 (which is different from Quiz 1).
We have had some students successfully complete Quiz 1 and then receive notification that Quiz 2 is "missing". Is there a way to turn off that notification to avoid confusion?
Note: Both quizzes are assigned to all students to allow them the option of taking Quiz 2, should they fail Quiz 1.
