I teach photography, and student submit many individual, large sized tif files. And, I teach 4-5 sections at a time, that are all combined into a single canvas page. When downloading student submissions all at once, It often errors out when creating the zip file and becomes impossible to download (in part because I am trying to download 500+ high res tif files).
Ideally, I'd like to download one section at time, the same way I can filter my gradebook to either see just the students from section 01 or section 02 etc instead of all at once.
Then, I could download for critique more efficiently/at all. Is this possible?
(If not possible yet, Hi canvas people, all my fellow art teacher peers also want this function! It's been stuck on creating a zip file for 2 hours at this point!)
While this might not be an immediate solution for you, have you or your institution looked into Portfolios? This might be a way to resolve your issue regarding large file sizes etc.
Here is some information that might help you with your research as a future option.

Hey! I just checked into this, and its a good idea, but I don't think it will solve the problem for presenting in class and dealing with massive amounts of student submissions (ie, 6 classes of 20-25 students each, all turning in 8-12 photos).
I am going to keep this in mind for other applications though!
Hi again
Is another option for students to add their photos to a PPT, create a MP4 and then upload this to Canvas Studio? It is a little more work from their end, but for you, there is no delay in a large download.
Just another idea/option.
Thanks
This is a good idea too, but I need to access their meta data and layers often to ensure completeness of the assignment
