What do you use for large quantities of large file submissions?

We have a few faculty who teach courses (media and communication arts for example) where students submit a number of large files for assignments. In this example, each week, each student is submitting approx. 100MB in files. To have students upload each of these to Canvas and have the instructor download each one for grading is not reasonable.

In cases like this, how do other institutions handle these file-intensive classes? Do you use a 3rd party system? Do you have some way of managing the process within Canvas, such as through LTI integration?

We have a third party system that students can use to upload large files - Filebox. Yet, we also let students know they can use Google Doc's and Dropbox - which many of them use as well because they already have these accounts and they are easier to upload from these to Canvas from their phones/tablets.

Thanks for the input  @kona  . The students' use of Google Docs or Dropbox allows students to upload to Canvas from those products, but they are still being uploaded to Canvas ... is that right? Does your use of Filebox serve as a storage/repository for uploading or as another location to upload to Canvas?

Google Docs - provides a direct upload option as part of Canvas Assignments (faculty just have to check the option to allow online submissions and choose file as an option). In this case the assignment can be uploaded as a file or a link to a file/document. **Probably the best option in terms of ease of use and being built into Canvas.**

Dropbox - not built in, but students on a desktop could submit the link to their file. On a phone/tablet, you can choose the option to upload the file directly into Canvas.

Filebox - not built in, students on desktop/phone/tablet only have the option of submitting the link to their file.

Hope this helps!

Hello, I have concerns about large quantities of class work being turned in also. The management can be very overwhelming. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
