What happens to assignments using an external app if the app is disabled?

Scenario is there are previous assignments utilizing an external app (ex. turnitin via plagiarism framework) but we need to shift to the LTI (external tool) version so we need to disable/delete the former.
How will this affect the previous assignments?

@carlofranco It may be best to double check with the company that makes the app/lti. My experience has been the old assignments become dead links. They do not work for the student of instructor and are pretty much useless as they have no reference anymore. Sort of like a link saying "go here" and then you change the "here" so the link has no place to go anymore.
