What happens when you re-submit an assignment

Jump to solution

Can you and or your teacher still see both submissions?   Or does one erase the other?

Hi  @mrexh90 and welcome to the Canvas community. When a student re-submits an assignment, the new file doesn't replace the old one and both are still stored in Canvas but the student can only see the most recent file on the submission details page. The teacher can still see all submissions though, they will get a list of the dates submitted by that student and will be able to choose which submission to view.

Side note: On the computer students will only see their most recent submission. Yet, on the Canvas Student app they will see all submissions!

How can I get all the submissions made by a student using the API?

GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/assignments/:assignment_id/submissions

This particular call does only return the last submission per student
