What is the Crocodoc Timeout?

Jump to solution

We have an instructor who consistently gets "timeouts" and loses work when grading documents in Crocodoc.  He is viewing the document and then putting all of the comments in the comments box (due to a separate issue with Group Assignments and Crocodoc).  I had not experienced any timeouts associated with Crocodoc, but I experimented today and found that around 50 minutes into a grading session I started getting this message

"Your Crocodoc session is expiring soon.  Please reload the window to avoid losing any work".  During my test session, I was only typing comments into the Comments box. Once I got that message, even though I completed the first comment and started a second, I started getting the popup warnings every few minutes.

Is there a specified time limit on Crocodoc sessions?

Thanks!

@brendaa , according to How do I use Crocodoc in Canvas assignments? , the timeout occurs after one hour and the warning you've depicted above will appear at the 50-minute mark.

@brendaa , I've had that message come up for me before (never timed it to see how long it would take) and normally if I reload the page it will stop popping up. As for the exact time limit, I'm not sure what that is, but my best guess for finding out would be to contact Canvas Support.
