I have seen previous posts about having a word count in SpeedGrader for Discussion Board assignments. This is helpful for rubrics that have minimum word counts. Is there an update to this idea?
Hi @skjohnson2,
Anytime the "Rich Content Editor" is used, there is a word count feature underneath the textbox. This is described in the What is the Rich Content Editor (RCE)? - Instructure Community - 12 support article.
Does that help you?
Thanks for your reply - I am aware of the feature - it does show the word count when I write a post. I would like the word count to show when I am grading a discussion assignment so it shows me how many words the student typed into their initial post and replies when I am grading. My grading rubric has minimum word length requirements
Thank you for clarifying that, @skjohnson2, and I apologize for misunderstanding/misreading what you asked.
While a word count does appear in the RCE and in SpeedGrader for other gradeable types of content, it does not exist for discussions when being graded.
This would need to be submitted to the Canvas Community as an idea by going to https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Ideas/idb-p/canvas-ideas. I would also recommend that you read the blog post at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/The-Product-Blog/Turning-Your-Feedback-into-Better-Prioritization....
