I am new to this. As an instructor, do I need to create my assignments first then they go into gradebook? I am teaching f/f and utilizing canvas but need to use the gradebook.
i.e Quiz 1 =20pts, -- do I just create the assignment with a total of 20 pt and then it creates a column in the gradebook? I will manually enter after the quiz. Any help is appreciated.

@Beckwite You are correct! If you are using the gradebook for stuff going on in class (not through Canvas) then to create a column in the gradebook you just create an assignment, choose "On Paper" as the submission type and add any other details you wish such as due dates or descriptions. As soon as you save and publish it, it will create a column in the gradebook that you can manually add the grades to.
