Hi Christine,

The easiest way is to use the Moderate Quiz option Once I publish a quiz, how do I use the Moderate Quiz page? From here you can select the student and use the checkbox to Manually Unlock the quiz for next attempt.  This essentially overrides existing availability dates and makes it immediately available. You can also allow extra attempts if needed on this same page https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13076-415250753

If you want a little more control over exactly when the student will be able to take the quiz, Edit the quiz and assign just that student a different set of availability dates.  Click the +Add button, select the student and set a different set of dates just for them.

Rick,

Thanks!

Chris

Unfortunately, the solution here doesn't seem to be working for me. I have tried to give individual students extensions while the exam is open using this method. I am able to +Add new cases as the solution says here, and I am able to save it, and all the cases I've made show up in the list, even the ones I gave an extension to during the exam. And yet, the exam closes on the student at the original non-extension time.

Is anyone able to recreate this? I suppose I can't rule out that the student isn't being truthful about the exam closing, but I do not believe that is the case.  If it's a bug, I would really like the solution to it.

Do you mean that you gave extended time to a student while the quiz was still in progress? I'm not sure whether there is an issue with quizzes closing at the originally set time, as I have never tried this. When you click on the Moderate Quiz icon, however, it should show you information such as how many attempts the student has made, as well as how much time it took for the student to complete it.

At the very least, this should allow you to confirm the veracity of the student's claim that the quiz "closed early."
