messaging parents from grade book

I messaged my students who were missing an assignment directly from gradebook using the "message students who" function. Does this message the parents as well? In not, is there a way to quickly mass message parents from grade book?

Hi Carlin -

There is not currently an Instructure-built way to do this. There is, however, some custom script that  @Steve_25  has shared with the Community Messaging Observers of Students in Canvas‌. I use this with the "Message Students Who..." function, and it's really helpful especially when students' last names don't always match the observers'.

Your Canvas admin would need to add this for your entire school, not just your course. It may be an interesting conversation to initiate.
