"NRA" before Teacher and Student roles -- what does it mean?

When I add a user to a course and am looking at the available roles to choose for them, both Teacher and Student have the three letters "NRA" in front of them (i.e. they display as "NRA Teacher" and "NRA Student". What does the "NRA" mean? I can't find any reference to "NRA" in any guide, anywhere. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This designation sounds like it's something specific to your school; I haven't seen it anywhere myself, but when I searched the Columbia website some relevant search results surfaced that read "A flag of 'NRA' is set when users are added manually."
