Canvas by Instructure Release Notes (Android 5.0)

In this update, Canvas by Instructure makes some design modifications for an enhanced user experience. Students and instructors benefit from simplified workflow and access to course content.

 

Download the Canvas by Instructure app in the Play Store. Version 5.0 requires Android 4.0.3 or later.

App Design

The entire app has been updated with enhanced design and small changes to the user experience. Features in the app focus specifically on user content and workflow.

Course Grades

Grades show at the bottom of a course card. Students can choose to hide overall grades in the Courses page overflow icon. New courses display grades as 0%.


Grades are not supported for instructors, so grades will always display as 0%.

User Navigation Course Access

The User Navigation menu includes links to favorite courses. Quickly switch between courses in any area of the app.

To Do and Notifications

The To Do list and Notifications pages have been redesigned for content emphasis. Users can manage each item by tapping and holding an item; notifications can be deleted and to-do items can be marked as done.

Discussion Pins

When viewing a discussion, instructors can pin the discussion. Pinned discussions appear at the top of the Discussions page.

I like this new release!  Is there a way to show points on the course card instead of %?

It's percentage only. But perhaps the engineers can consider that for a future update. Smiley Happy

I also like that with notifications, you can batch delete by tapping a bunch of them before tapping "delete". Hold to select the first, then select away.
