Canvas Teacher Release Notes (iOS 1.11)

Canvas Teacher Release Notes (iOS 1.11)

In Canvas Teacher 1.11, Student View is supported in the app. Additionally, discussion replies can be marked as unread.

Canvas iOS app version updates are distributed in a phased rollout, which distributes the update to all users enrolled in automatic updates over time. The features in these notes may not immediately be available, but iOS users can manually update the app at any time in the iTunes Store. The Canvas Teacher iOS App requires iOS 12.0 or later.

Courses

Student View

Within a course, teachers can access Student View at the bottom of the page. This change allows teachers to view their course from the perspective of a student.

Accessing Student View opens the Canvas Student app and displays the Test Student icon at the bottom of the window. The entire app is also surrounded by a purple outline to indicate the app is being viewed as the test student. The mobile app matches the same restrictions for the Test Student in Canvas web. However, the Test Student cannot be reset in the app.

Note: When accessing Student View, teachers who do not have the Student app are first directed to the iTunes store to download the Student app.

Teachers can leave Student View at any time by tapping the Test Student icon.

This option does not seem to be working.. Is it actually pushed out to the mobile apps?

Hi, Diane,

Apps are distributed in a phased rollout so our teams can make sure the version update is functioning as intended before being rolled out to everyone. If you have automatic updates on, you won't get it automatically until it's available to you. However, you can manually go into the App store and download it at any time.

Thanks!

Erin
