Best way to find people to connect with?

What's the best way to connect with other people in the community once they join?  I've tried going to the People link and searching through who's been added most recently but wondering if there's a better/more efficient way to do this without needing to do this every time.  Will a person's list of "recommended connections" get larger as more people join?

I just follow people as I come across posts from them that seem interesting. Be it a question, answer, idea, or status update, if it interests me I'll follow the person. So you could say I don't search for people too often, rather I search for content and follow the people who created it. You may want to consider making a few different "Streams" to categorize the things you follow though. For instance, I have a stream for people from Arizona, Canvas employees, and all else, but I will probably create more over time since you can follow just about everything around here! Also, take note of people you come across in events outside this community. I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of people following during and after InstructureCon 2015, and I followed quite a few people I've run across during webinars as soon as I got here.
