Where is my activity stream?

I can't find the things I was following. Where is my activity stream? It isn't where it used to be. (What I mean is, in Canvas Community, when I click to "follow" an idea in my "connections stream"--where did those updates go?)

 @Beth_Young ​, good question! Things have certainly changed overnight in the Jive Community. After clicking around for a few minutes, I don't know the answer to your question, but since the question doesn't specifically relate to the Canvas LMS, I'm moving it to the Meta Community Group, where it will get the focus and attention it justly deserves.

Hey stefaniesanders​, while I truly think you are doing great work moving stuff to the right place in the community, one thing to keep in mind with the Meta Community Group​, is that it's "private" or some such status that prevents the original poster from seeing a reply unless they actually join that group. You might want to hold off moving these sorts of questions to that group until an answer has been given. I noticed this when I was answering Points system​. I get a message when replying to it that "Points system is located in a member only group. Anyone who can view this content can see the name of the object."

awilliams​, thanks for the feedback; I experience misgivings about this every time I move a question to a members-only group! (I sent you a direct message with more detail.)

I'd like to branch this out into a separate discussion to get more community feedback, but I don't see the "branch" option in my list of available actions. Anyone know how this is done--or should we just start a separate question?

I did quite a bit of looking and I can't find the activity streams anywhere. I'm wondering if it's now something a Community admin has to turn on?

EDIT: Is it the same as when you click on your profile picture at the top right corner of your screen, then click on your name, and then click on "Activity"?

I don't use my activity stream, so I'm not sure, but I don't "think" that's what it is... or at least it doesn't seem to be like it was before with the customized streams.

I don't think it's the same. I think that's for stuff like commenting or voting.

Not to beat a dead horse but the same for me too. I use mine quite a bit and used to click on my profile and then click on the Inbox & activity link.

Yes.  There was an update last night that we were not expecting, however we are now in the group of Jive Community that will keep us informed!  As a result of the update a few things have changed - one being the activity stream.  I'll need to do more searching, but the way I found the things I am following is as follows.

click on your icon menu (top right - with your picture)

select 'your content'

select 'following' from the menu on the left.

I'll keep looking to see if there is a steam similar to what we had before...

Same here. The red circle with a number no longer appears next to my profile pic, even though there were unread messages in my Inbox.

It's not quite as convenient, but there is an Inbox Unread count beside Inbox in the left-hand side of the Activity Stream. I usually use my Inbox or Activity Stream as my jumping off point to the community so I'm not too impacted by the change.

awilliams​, yes, that's what I've been doing--but you're right as always: it's not as convenient. Before this update we were able to click on our profile picture and choose between going directly to the Inbox or selecting the Inbox & Activity stream from the menu. I use my Inbox far more than the Inbox & Activity stream, so those extra clicks are adding up.:smileysilly: And I also miss the little red indicator.

I was out of the office for a couple days enjoying some R&R, and I had 20+ notifications.  It took me 3 clicks every time I wanted to go back to my Inbox to see what the next notification was.  Surely the red indicator could come back?

I also want the red indicator back (badly), but I'm reading and replying from my inbox, so don't have to make three clicks to read each comment, feature idea, etc.  Are you not able to do that Chris?

Yes, I can do that.  However, since I was out of the office, sometimes there were multiple responses (like 10+) I hadn't read yet in a single discussion topic, and the view from the Inbox doesn't show all of them...so I needed to click a link to go to the topic and read the responses.

Fwiw, when I need to break out of my Inbox for an item I open it in a new tab (cmd+click on a mac or ctrl+click on a pc) do my business over there, and then close that tab to return to my inbox.

I'll need to touch base with the team (Deactivated user​,  @scottdennis ​,  @biray ​) to see if the new "News page" was activated and then turned off?  I'm not sure.  We'll keep you posted.

Found the Answer.  Jive accidentally activated the 'News' feature in their upgrade last Friday.  The 'News' feature was supposed to have a toggle that we could select to turn on, but was released with on as the default.  Jive went through and corrected all of the instances that were affected; including ours!  Your activity streams should appear as they did before.

Looks like changes to the News feature are also now preventing Status updates, or at least I can't figure out how to update mine now.

Hmm,  @scottdennis ​ and  @Renee_Carney ​: I can't "like" replies to feature ideas any more--and you know I'm a big liker.   ("Like" on other stuff still works fine.) I thought it was just me, or my overcalibrated mouse--but maybe not.

Same for me. It looks like they should still be clickable (likeable) but doesn't seem to work.

Yep, we noticed the same thing yesterday and filed a ticket with Jive.  Appears that liking ideas is down across the platform.  Will let you know what we learn.  Hopefully we'll be back to liking ideas before tomorrow's new round opens.

The other little thing I've noticed missing is the indicators beside each activity stream that showed approximately how many updates there were since I've last viewed the stream. These showed up to the right of the particular stream when viewing the overall activity stream. It's not the end of the world but I did like having those because I used them as a cue that I had "caught up" on all the activity in that stream. (see image below)

On the plus side, I like the new search box.
