Idea vote counts

Jump to solution

What happened to the idea vote counts from the Jive community?   Looks like they may have been converted to Kudos, but there doesn't seem to be any way to sort or filter by Kudos.  Is there a way to view or sort ideas by vote count (including votes from old community site).  Some ideas had hundreds of votes in the old community and now there's no way to bring them to the surface.  At Indiana University, we used ideas and vote counts to prioritize local development efforts.

Yes, as you've noticed, we have made changes to the ideation process. Specifically, we've switched from the voting system that was used in the previous platform to a star rating system as this brings it more in line with how our product teams approach these conversations. How do idea conversations work in the Canvas Community?  details the process.

The platform doesn't currently have a way to sort these conversations by rating or comments. We too would find it useful to be able to perform additional sorts, but especially by number of comments, as that would surface ideas with high engagement and many examples of the use cases that help inform product development.

This is very disappointing.  Idea tracking and voting is a very important feature of the community site.  Are there any plans to do some custom development around this issue.

We will certainly keep this in mind as we formulate our plans around custom development.

I totally agree with you, Lynn. Sorry for the late reply after the migration to Khoros. Jive is much better, as we can see the real names of the people as well as their roles so that we can see their true identities, not fake users. In fact, the Jive Cloud platform is not actually reaching the end-of-life state, it still continues to be updated to the latest version (the latest version is CloudCore-3005.0.2, released on 8/22/2020). I wished that they should have migrated to Aurea instead of Khoros, in order to provide a more seamless experience. Maybe we could move back again to Aurea in the future (migrated to Jive in 2015, to Khoros in 2020, maybe back to the new Jive in the future). We don't want to do another community migration again the following year, as it could have serious stability issues.

According to this link (https://community.jivesoftware.com/docs/DOC-35149), the end of life date for Jive 9.0.x has been extended to 11/9/2022 (versions of Jive that are 9.1.x or higher are the most current versions). If a new version comes out (Jive 10), with a later end of life date, we could move back and get the same features that we had with Jive prior to 8/6/2020. I wished that they could have known about it sooner.

Hi Kelvin,

"Jive" was actually marketed for different uses and in very different configurations for many years.  We are intimately familiar with the other flavor of Jive still being sold by Aurea.  Seeing as we are not interested in changing the user-to-user nature of this community or moving to locally hosted software, going with Aurea wasn't (and isn't) an attractive option.  I realize that transiting to any new platform is going to entail disruption but please bear with us as we continue to tweak and fine tune our new home for the foreseeable future.

Please bring back the votes! Forcing us to comment is just busywork.

Hi Lisa,

The one through five star rating system is designed to take the place of vote counts in the new platform.  As far as workflow goes it shouldn't be more or less work to give a star rating as it was to vote in the old platform.  Does that make sense?
