REMOTE FRIENDLY - GIG - Course Template Creation, Grant Funded

We are searching for a few Canvas designers to help us create a powerful little course shell/template for Canvas for Professional Learning.

Here’s the need:

A robust and UDL/Accessible Canvas course template designed specifically for K-12 School Districts to use to provide blended or online professional learning.

This template should not only be easy to customize based on district PL topics, but also highlight/demonstrate the ways in which it is accessible and utilizes UDL principles. We want it to be a model and a tool.

Beyond simple module templates, we might also include instructional modules like:

  • Accessibility in embedded items (For example: How to make your Bitmoji Classroom Slide Decks accessible to all learners).
  • Designing with Adults in Mind
  • Home Page and Module Exemplars for K-2, 3-5, 6-12.

Here’s the timeline:

We are leading representatives from 30 school districts in a digital learning implementation plan workshop on June 23 & 24. We will present them with this course template at that time. We would also make this template available via Commons to all Canvas users. The template would need to be completed by June 1, 2021.

Funding

We have grant funding to compensate educators/designers for this work. The funding per designer will depend on the number of designers on the team.

How to help:

If you are you a designer with a passion for or specific training in UDL/Accessibility or you are a Canvas user/site admin and already have something like this that we can use and adapt to our needs, please complete this quick Google Form.

Please complete the interest form by Friday, March 19 and we’ll form the team by April 1!

Reach out to Lena Darnay at ldarnay@ciesc.org for questions or suggestions.
