Anyone can view and search the community. However, in order to participate, you must log in.
If you do not have a Canvas account, you can create an account through Free for Teacher (FFT). Free for Teacher is a free service that allows users to create and/or participate in Canvas courses.
Below are two ways you can log in to the community - via web and via mobile.
If you experience any issues with logging into the Instructure Community, try logging out of Canvas and then logging in again. If logging out and logging in again doesn't work, there may be an issue with your Canvas username and password. You may need to file a ticket with Canvas Support. Create Canvas Account
Click the Need a Canvas Account? link.
Sign Up for a Free Account
Click the I'm a Teacher button [1] or I'm a Student button [2].
Enter Canvas Account Creation Details
Enter the following information:
- Enter your first name in the First Name field.
- Enter your last name in the Last Name field.
- Select the account type in the Account Type drop-down menu (Teacher, Student, Parent/Observer, Evaluating/Other). You need to select an account type before entering the rest of your information.
- Enter your email address in the Email Address field.
- Enter your phone number in the Phone Number field.
- Select your country in the Country drop-down menu.
- Select your organization type in the Organization Type drop-down menu.
- Enter your job title in the Job Title field.
- Enter your school or organization name in the School / Organization field.
- Select the reason you are using Canvas in the Why Canvas? drop-down menu.
- Enter a password in the Password field.
- Click the checkbox to consent to the privacy policy.
- Click the checkbox to agree to the Free for Teacher Acceptable Use Policy.
- Confirm that you are not a robot by completing the Captcha form.
- Click the Submit button.
Log in to the Instructure Community from the Web
The easiest way to log in to the community is from the web.
Note: You may need to allow browser cookies and clear any previous cookies for this site before logging in.
Log in to Canvas Account
The Canvas login screen requires your login [1] and password [2].
Click the Log In button [3].
Note: If prompted with a single sign on (SSO) error, select the FFT Canvas URL (canvas.instructure.com) from the drop-down. Then click the Go button. The system SSO will automatically log you in.
Search the Canvas Guides
In the Canvas Global Navigation menu, click the Help icon [1] and then click the Search the Canvas Guides link [2].
You can also type https://community.canvaslms.com into your browser search bar.
Both options will take you directly to the community.
Sign in to the Community
In the Instructure Community, click the Sign In link and if you are logged in to Canvas, you are automatically logged in.
Log in to the Community via Mobile
If you are logging in to the community via mobile, the best way to access is via a mobile browser.
Note: Currently logging into your Canvas Mobile App does not automatically log you into the community.
Log in to Canvas Account
The Canvas login screen requires your email address [1] and password [2].
Tap the Log In button [3].
Search the Canvas Guides
Tap the Menu icon [1].
In the Global Navigation menu, tap the Help link [2] and then tap the Search the Canvas Guides link [3].
You can also type https://community.canvaslms.com into your browser search bar.
Both options take you directly to the community.
Sign in to the Community
Tap the Sign In button. If you are logged in to Canvas, you are automatically logged in to the Instructure Community.
Open with Browser
If prompted, select to open with your internet browser.
The system SSO automatically logs you in to Canvas.
