Blueprint sync and Course Copy support are available now on beta! This functionality will be in the production and test environments late afternoon (mountain time) August 17.

Course Pacing settings are preserved and copied when course content is imported via Course Copy and Canvas Import Package.

Additionally, when Course Pacing settings are updated in connection with a blueprint, the changes sync across associated courses. Sections and students are excluded when copying Course Pacing information.

How Blueprint and Course Pacing work together

After gathering feedback from several of you in the user group, we opted to allow instructors and admins to have the option to lock the entire course pace. That means when you lock it in Course Settings, all assignment durations are locked and instructors in the associated courses are unable to change individual assignment durations at the course pace level.

To enable your course as a Blueprint course, go to course settings and check the box. If you want to lock the course pace, you can select “content” under “General Locked Objects,” or you can select “Course Pace” under “Locked Objects by Type.”

If you choose to enable the lock option, you will see a button at the top of the Course Pacing page that allows you to lock the pace.

Simply click the “Blueprint” button and you’ll lock the pace.

We don’t recommend locking the course pace unless you are certain teachers will not need to make changes throughout the duration of the course.

We hope you’ll give this new functionality and try and let us know what you think!
