SUBSCRIBE widget seems quite small

Greetings. Thanks for being so responsive to our suggestions!!
We often need to instruct students on how to [Subscribe] to Discussions. At present, they can use the small ribbon to the right of the Discussion topic on the Discussions List page. But, upon opening a Discussion, there is a also large [Subscribe] icon at the bottom of the Discussion description/above the postings.
In the redesign, we can still subscribe using the small ribbon on the Discussions List page, but the large [Subscribe] choice on the Discussion page itself is gone. Students will subscribe using the small ribbon up top next to the number of posts Read/Unread.
We typically direct students to the large [Subscribe] option. I'm afraid it will be difficult to get them to the small ribbon at the top of the page. Is anyone else concerned about this?
Wondering why the change? Might a more easily seen option be implemented in the Redesign?
