Students unable to log on

Hi-  I've set up two manually-created courses using FFT.  All the publish switches are turned on.  Students were asked to self-enrol using the URL generated from "settings".

I can see their names listed on "people", with email addresses.

However, no student has been able to access either course.  They get a response that access is blocked.

Clearly, I'm missing something; what?

Do they each need to click on "need canvas account" and then register (again) using the email address shown on "people".

This is a rather urgent request since we are now in the second week of the semester.
