Filter AND Sort/Arrange By Buttons

Hello!
I'm a Canvas admin for a large K12 school district. Similar to search functionalities and interface of common major websites, I believe that a Sort button should be added next to the Filter button that already exists in the current iteration of this tool. I'm not sure that hiding the Sort (or Arrange By) function within the infamously general Gear button is in teacher's best interest.
