Add a Differentiated Instructions Custom Field to Assignments & Discussion Posts

Specifically for K12 classes - there is a great need to be able to give differentiated instructions for students - specifically for students receiving special education services or are on an IEP.

I would suggest that a simple link would be added to the "due date" function on an assignment/graded discussion which would allow a student to assign to a specific student (or students) or section and then an additional RCE would display allowing individualized instructions to be added. 

A further radio button could be added to this which would allow teachers to decide whether that new RCE would append to the orginal or replace the original.

This would solve soooo many problems we're facing trying to follow IEP laws right now. We've developed some workarounds - one that was showcased on the Canvas LMS YouTube channel and on the Canvas Tutorials Show on FB. But we need a baked in solution!!!

Thanks for sharing these suggestions. The Idea Conversations forum accommodates discussions that are focused on a request for enhancement to a single feature. Since Discussions and Assignments are different features in Canvas, each of which has different functionality and is managed by a different product team, each of these would have to be evaluated for potential prioritization separately. Please read through How do I create a new idea conversation in the Canvas Community? for guidance and rewrite this as two new submissions.
