Administrators Add Classes to their Dashboard

Allow administrators to add courses to their dashboard that they are not part of. Administrators often need quick access to classes for training, checking grades, etc. Having to search through 100+ classes every time is such a waste of time!

To address this I had created a set of bookmarks within a folder on the bookmark bar.  These are for specific courses along with key areas. Examples -

  • People - https:// abcd.instructure.com/accounts/1/users?search_term=&role_filter_id=&page=
  • Specific subaccount - https:// abcd.instructure.com/accounts/22/sub_accounts
  • Test course - https:// abcd.instructure.com/courses/1

@Jeff_F Thanks for posting that suggestion! When I have a course to which I need to refer frequently I have been adding it to the bookmarks bar (Chrome). I had completely forgotten that the bookmarks bar accommodates folders, so you've just helped me clean up my browser. 🙂

We've had cases of instructors who've become sub-account admins with over 1,000 courses.

Admins would prefer to star/favorite particular courses they are focused on to appear on their dashboard.

Currently, the dashboard categorizes cards/lists of courses based on current and past enrollments.

I envision a third category based on admins selecting favorite courses to appear in their dashboard among other enrolled courses.

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
