Allow students to see past submission feedback side by side

For writing tasks, it is essential that students are able to see their progress. What are they doing well, what can they still improve...? In order to see this progress more clearly, it would be great if students could not just access the feedback of past submissions, but also open these for different versions side by side!

For example, suppose they submitted a first draft and a final version of a writing task. There were mistakes in both, but also things the student improved on. By opening the files side by side, the student can better recognise and analyse their corrections and consistent mistakes.

If this feature were possible, it would also be helpful for the teacher: opening both versions of a task simultaneously in speedgrader would allow us to see the difference between the two texts at a glance, making it easier to grade the overall task (especially compared to toggling between screens).

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
