I still cannot copy a quiz. How are you doing this?
Use the three vertical dots to right of quiz (or assignment). Select "copy to..." from drop down menu:
To copy to the same course, just select the course you are in:
You can also select a module to add it to at this time (or just add it after the fact):
You can also tell it where in the module to place it:
Then just hit "copy":
Maybe they have fixed the issue, but in the past if you copied a quiz to the same course and then made changes, it made changes to both copies. I learned this the hard way when I made a copy of a quiz and then modified it by removing a distractor and breaking up all the matching questions into just three options with no additional distractors. Luckily, I had all the original questions in test banks and was able to create a new quiz and import the questions again.
Hmm, I did a quiz copy in my spring semester course for a blind student. Had to remove a visual question, adding something else in its place.
I just checked and yes, the original questions remains in the original exam, even though I made the change in the blind student's quiz.
I DID change the quiz name in the copied quiz. So maybe that is what you need to be sure to do before editing the copy. Identify it as different simply by renaming it with a number "2" or the student's name in the title.

Thank you for your suggestion. Yes, I think that would work. When I posted about this issue in 2018 we were not yet using the New Gradebook, so I was not aware of the EX option then.
I wonder if the Canvas developers would consider adding something like the ability to upload a CSV file that would contain the names of students in the first column and the other parameters for the Assignment settings in the other columns. For any given assignment, the CSV file could have all the particular settings for any given student as a row in the file. This would allow instructors to easily duplicate information for other assignments by copying the file, making global Find-Replace changes in the CSV file, and uploading back to the Assignment.
I think that the Canvas team needs to expand the capabilities of the user interface in general. For those of us who teach large classes, the time required for so many individual clicks and discreet entries multiplies unsustainably as the numbers go up.
So basically the reverse of downloading (exporting) the gradebook. You want to upload your gradebook.
Aside from this idea being way off focus of the original idea being discussed here, I can't see Canvas choosing to add such a feature. Just uploading a .CSV gradebook is not going to create assignments in Canvas that students can use to submit work.
If you want to use excel to create your gradebook, just use that. Unless it is a matter of your school requiring you to use the Canvas gradebook.

I think Burford meant was for an assignment, not the whole gradebook. I wish for a similar yet lower tech solution where I can copy in a comma-separated list into the Assign To box rather than type every name individually.
Yes, Antony, that is what I was thinking about; for an Assignment, not the whole Gradebook.
A similar thing happened to me when I copied an updated quiz to another section that already used that quiz name. I believe the key is in the name of the quiz. If you copy a quiz, change it's name before you edit it. Even a single character works, you can add a space or a hyphen and canvas will know it's a different quiz. If you are copying to a new course, update the name in the first course to something not yet used in the new course before copying.
A quick upload to adjust accommodations for various students one assignment at a time would be an interesting idea, but I think you might consider supporting https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/16031-special-accommodations-settings-at-student-level which would apply those student specific settings to all assignments automatically after they are set up once for the course.
Canvas currently limits the ability to support our most needy students by not allowing differentiation in Assignments. It is time consuming for a teacher to enter all 25 students individually so as to not assign it to the student who doesnt require it. This feature would be so helpful!

It's not done with the assigning feature, but against the student's entry in the Gradebook - you can set the student to Excuse on a per quiz or assignment basis, and it completely drops the task from their Total.

Sara, I found the effective way to keep the student from even seeing the assignment they don't have to do, is to make another "assign" to (edit the assignment) for the excepted student(s). Set their "available until" date to a date before the class even starts.
I love the idea! I've done the same thing that Laura Shulman just suggested, but it would be great if we didn't have to make another assignment and assign those few students. It's a bit of work and time consuming!

yeah see the thing is I know and have been using the "work arounds" like
the assignment dates, but the point is that we should not have to be
manipulating the system with workarounds when the option to just do it
properly could be implemented.

Same thought, this feature + print quiz feature + implement Turnitin in Quizzes. These features have been open for voting for years and yet, no action taken.
My problem is that I need to accommodate some students with double time on a timed quiz. I don't think there's a way to change the time for one student (right?), so I've had to set up a second, separate assignment with double time and assign it to just that student. That works, but I then need to unassign that student from the original quiz. The only way I have been able to do that is to *manually* assign it to every student in the course other than the one being accommodated. What I'm hoping for is something like the "Everyone Else" option, but it seems the only time we get the option for "Everyone Else" is when an individual student has been assigned a different due date in the same quiz.
Just spitballing, I was thinking I could assign this quiz to that student with a one-minute due date window, effectively ensuring the student won't use this assignment and giving me the option to use "Everyone Else." The only problem is that if it is assigned to that student, it will show up in the gradebook, so these points (two separate quizzes) will be in the gradebook twice for this student.
Part of my reason for wanting this unassign capability is that I don't get these accommodations memos all at once. They come in one by one, many before drop/add ends, and I'd like to set this up as the memos come in. However, manually adding everyone else's name (as noted above) before drop/add ends could mean I leave out someone who adds the class after I do this.
Currently, it seems my best option is to wait until drop/add ends (so I have a final roster of students in the course) and then and only then manually add, one by one, all students except those being accommodated to the assignment. Unassigning an individual student would be a better option for me.
