Assignments and Quizzes Automatically Don't Publish When Copied

The "Copy To" feature is wonderful, but it would be helpful if Assignments and Quizzes did not automatically publish when copied to another course.

If the Assignment or Quiz has a due date that has already passed, and the instructor has set the grade book to automatically give zeros for late work, then zeros appear in the grade book when it is copied over. If it copied unpublished by default, the instructor would have an opportunity to alter due dates before it posted.

Thank you for sharing your idea. As a former teacher, I can see where this would be useful. Your idea is now Open for Conversation. 

I did a little searching in the Community, and I found Importing a Canvas Course - Set All to Unpublished. It's very related to this idea, and I thought it would be worthwhile to share it with you (and others who find your idea).

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
