Developing the function to track individual student’s readings of posts on discussion boards

Hello,

From two years ago when I started to use the CANVAS to teach a course, one of important functions that are frequently and efficiently used was missing, compared with those for the D-2-L flat-form.

The function is “to automatically track and record individual student’s readings of posts on class discussion boards, just as D2L has.”  Actually, I have found that students become relatively passive and less enthusiastic in participating in their classes, especially discussions, due to the lack of this function.

And very recently I have checked whether this function is developed.  Unfortunately, it has not been developed or added yet.

So I’d like to suggest to you that this function should be developed sooner for better and more effective online educational settings, which would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

Maeng-Sik Shin, PhD., Dept of Psychology, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
