Discussion Board Save as Draft Feature

It would be a great idea to add a "save draft" feature in the discussion board reply posts.  This would allow learners to begin and update their work as the week progresses and avoid the back and forth of cut and paste from a .doc or other source.  Suggesting as a student and staff.  Is available tool on other LMS.

Any option created to save a draft should be combined with an auto post at the due time.

Although there is not a way to save a draft (without keeping a window open) there is an autosave when the rich content editor is enabled that will keep an unposted response available for a short time if you navigate away on accident.

There is also a way to edit prior posts, although many instructors turn that off to reduce opportunities for cheating.  A draft option would let students work on their own initial post without revealing posts hidden by the requirement to post before seeing other replies.

I'm not sure if you guys work for the School, or Canvas proper but Canvas needs do design an (automatic) "Save Draft" function into the "Discussion" BBS system, so if this happens again the student doesn't lose two or three hours ( or maybe even more - I was doing related research when my manuscript was purged from the input field.I lost a WHOLE DAY Composition time.)

The Help Desk couldn't seem to help me:

There has got to be a way that the discussion box text does not wipe out and then not being able to retrieve it.  I have texted my homework assignment out almost finished and the next thing I know it's gone  Now I have to do the whole thing when I'm on a schedule. I don't think you want students to start complaining about their homework assignments on canvas aren't functioning properly. Do you think that's a well-based function on canvas? Please help the students to keep what they complete. Thank You
