Email (message) student popup when click their name or ID

When you click on a student's name, a pop-up with the option to send a message.  I'm used to a previous LMS where I could send a student a message anywhere I needed, for example, the gradebook, attendance page, or any assignment or discussion.  Now I have to memorize information from the gradebook, assignment, discussion, etc; go to my inbox; search for the student; and then hopefully remember the grade or attendance or assignment or discussion post and write them the message.  THEN I have to remember where I was and click back to continue grading or reading or whatever I was doing.

 @brynd ​, after having used this Jive community for the past few months I have really enjoyed this functionality you are suggesting the we add to Canvas.

Just a tip to consider in the meantime: if you hold down the CMD (mac) or CTRL (PC) key then click while holding down, it will open another tab in your browser so you don't lose your current location.

Also, speedgrader and the gradebook are a  couple places that are designed to have you communicate with students in context of a particular assignment. So when you add a comment, it is actually sending (routing) your message through the Canvas inbox/conversations/messaging tool, but it's framing it in the context of the particular assignment.
