In DISCUSSIONS, mark users “inactive” if their enrollment was Deleted

  • Students who posted to a discussion, then their enrollment was changed to “completed”, this user is marked “inactive” in the discussion. Good!
  • Students who posted to a discussion, then their enrollment was DELETED – this user is Not identified as inactive in the discussion, so it appears the student is still active.
  • Users with deleted enrollments need to be marked as “inactive” in discussions, for parity as users with completed enrollments.

Yes, this is very annoying. Students think that the person is still in class and are expecting a reply to their messages post to them.

The point is why are they treated different on the discussion board. Either way they both dropped the class, they are not in People, so that should be indicated on the Discussion board in both cases. One has Inactive next to their name and the other says nothing, as if they are still there.

It actually seems more like a bug fix, rather than an enhancement.

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
