[Calendar] Multi Day Events

It is a very normal function of calendaring to be able to add events that span multiple days. Please add the ability to have mulit day events in canvas. Instead of just having a start and end time give the ability to also define an end date.

I wish we could also do this for Assignments. Have a Start and end date or due date so it will automatically populate the calendar and show a span of one assignment.

Mike, thanks for posting as a feature request.  I was just working with a teacher the other day and were wanting this exact feature.  Our high school has just adopted Canvas, and as our administrator and tech integration specialist, I've been really pushing staff members to check the Share Ideas board.  Also, I share out relevant feature requests to everyone via email.  I'll be sure to do the same for this request and hopefully you'll see some more votes as a result.

Events can be extended over multiple dates. Create the event first. Once on the calendar, hover over one end or the other of the event box. It will show a double-ended arrow that you can click and drag to extend the event over multiple days. (Although I agree the Create Event box should just allow the date range to be input. It's more intuitive.)

Thanks for your input! We try to out due dates on our assignments so it automatically populated our calendar so having that option in assignments would be ideal!

However, when the event is edited, the box reverts.  So, if you discover a typo in your event and fix it, you have to remember to drag the box again.  It's a pain.  Furthermore, why cannot assignments span multiple days? I see this requested everywhere.  Long term assignments like "work on your paper" or "independent reading project" or "fractile project" are quite common.  A long term bar for assignments would encourage students to work ahead, not do all their homework at the last minute on a day to day pattern.

I think that's an excellent point. Most assignments do not only last one day. Most assignments span more than one day so if it showed that on the calendar like in a google or outlook calendar, students would be less likely to procrastinate.

This is a great idea, but I also think it should be able to accommodate recurring events that extend over a period of weeks for repeating events.
