[Discussions] Multiple Due Dates (checkpoints) for Discussions

Idea is currently in development

With the way that many schools set up forum discussions and require "check-ins" to the forum throughout the week, it would be great if we could include multiple due dates in the discussion activities. For instance, I have classes that require everyone respond to the prompt by Thursday night and respond to at least 2 peers by the following Sunday. Being able to remind students that they have responses due, especially if we could scatter responses over multiple days, would likely increase participation.

This was put to a vote in 2015?  Now it is 2020 and there is no resolution???

Hi all! I am new to the Canvas community and helping to support our university wide transition to Canvas. I am baffled that this is not a feature in Canvas. Multiple dues is such a common practice for not just discussions but assignments. Thank you for the community for all the helpful workarounds!

I posted this at least 3 years ago. This is the # 1 complaint from my students.

Dear Canvas,

I really don't understand the priorities of the development team. This topic has been in play for over 5 years. It has a score of 2250. It is needed! And yet the development team is spending time and effort developing an idea that only has 36 votes.

Thank Stephanie for the response from CANVAS about this, but hope that you can see the urgency of a development like this. Most module content online at the moment in our college is dependent on more continuous assessment: meaning more weekly and regular deadlines. We use Discussions for journaling and the creation of portfolios with weekly submissions. It is very time-consuming. I know we are not alone in this regard.

I am going to email colleagues in my department again for support in upvoting this further. Let's keep trying everyone!
