New Quizzes: Open Text Input Field in Multiple Choice Questions

Hi Ideas Team,

In order to build good feedback surveys, in-class surveys, it would be good if the Quiz (mostly ungraded survey) section could contain a function to combine multiple choice with an open text answer, as in

pick your choice or add your answer

A choice 1

B choice 2

C choice 3

D choice 4

E other: ... “text input”

Hello,  @benjamin_tag  Welcome to the Canvas Community! Your idea submission contains several different requests, one of which is currently open for voting—https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/1229-new-quizzes-likert-scale-question-type-as-ready-option" m...—so please add your support to the existing idea.

We don't currently have a feature idea that requests a question type in New Quizzes that combines multiple choice with open text. Would you please edit this idea to confine it to that single suggestion after reviewing How do I create a new feature idea in the Canvas Community? This resource provides guidance on the how and why of singular ideas.

We will keep this idea in Moderating status as we look forward to your review.

Thanks!

I would like to have the option for an "other" or a free-form text box in multiple choice and multiple answer questions if the response participants want to make is not listed. This would be great for demographic type questions that are ungraded. Additionally, it could be used for a student to convey knowledge if a multiple-choice or multiple answers question doesn't provide all the options due to additional obscure correct answers.
