No Leading Zeros

An instructor has many questions that require no leading zeros in his answers. Is it possible to put in a question asking if a leading zero is required or not so that no 0 before the decimal will automatically be posted when it is not need/wanted? It seems fairly simple to make this work for so many cases and to eliminate the need for an add-on to do the same thing.

Hi,  @smeyer5 . I'm not sure I completely understand this idea. Does the instructor want students to enter an answer that is only correct if the students do not use leading zeros and incorrect if they do? If that's the case, I am wondering if a Fill in the Blank question type might work, https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26384
