Photo submission

Currently there isn't a way to use the Canvas app to take a photo or video of something and submit directly into an assignment, but this would be very useful during distance learning. For students with phones, tablets, or other devices, and for teachers who want to see pictures of work (e.g. math problems, diagrams, art projects, etc.), the student could be prompted to take a photo or video from the submission page, and then directly upload to that assignment (and perhaps save a copy in a bank of student uploads somewhere else?) that the teacher could then see and interact with.

We invite you to add your helpful example to the conversation underway at Take a Photo and Submit, and we'll archive this one to remove the duplication and keep the discussion unified in one place.

Thanks! Stay safe, and stay well. 🙂

In File Upload assignments, students can use their webcam to submit to an assignment. This change allows students to use their webcam to submit a file upload assignment from the browser and aligns behavior with the Canvas Student app.

For more information, please read through the Canvas Release Notes (2021-03-20).
