Program page

Hello,

I would like to see a possibility for the admins (or teachers) to create an overreaching Program page for the student/teacher front end of Canvas?

I am only aware of the separate Course pages, which obviously includes the specific content for each course, but when studying a Program (including several courses) the need for an overreaching Program page is obvious.

I am looking for a Program page that can include information, links and files (not in a feed, but in a more static/permanent manner) regarding the whole program, and not specific courses.

Probably the workaround (https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Question-Forum/Program-page-and-not-only-course-pages/m-p/400147/...) is almost perfect, just that the Program page is named and located as a Course...

Thanks for sharing this idea. This is a great idea, and it's already possible.

Schools can create a page (or program) template for use by teachers across the institution; they can distribute it by sharing it to Commons for exclusive use by the school, or they can add it to courses by using the blueprint feature; they can make the template available in a master course for teachers; they can distribute the .imscc export package for the template to all teachers for their use.

The school is in the best position to determine what information should be available in their program template, as one school's program template would not be applicable to another.

We've archived this idea, as program templates need to be created by the school, so please contact your local eLearning department or Canvas admin to ask if they can create this for their faculty.

We also suggest you continue to engage with the question you posted to the Question Forum; Kelley stated that there are ways that teachers and students can create this, and offered to explain how they accomplished this at his school.

Ok, so Kelleys solution to create a Course page (placed under Courses in the main menu) for the Program is not a workaround but the official way to do it?

In the thread, Kelley briefly described the solution they used at his school as one possibility. That's a valuable conversation and I hope you continue to engage with Kelley in the thread; he has nearly a decade's worth of experience with Canvas and will happily help you find a way to accomplish what you need with existing Canvas tools.

@Stef_retiredOk, so you are saying that Kelleys solution to create a Course page (placed under Courses in the main menu) for the Program is not a workaround but one of the official ways to do it...(?) Which other ways are there?

To keep the original conversation unified, we've turned off comments for this idea. Please continue to engage with Kelley at Program page (and not only course pages)?
