Quiz Statistics: IP Addresses

(2)
When viewing quiz statistics for submissions, it would be helpful to include the student's IP address when taking the quiz. This allows us to determine whether or not academic integrity violations have been committed when there is suspicious behavior on a quiz.

ooh. Our computer labs use a pool of IP addresses. The IP address wouldn't indicate anything accept they were in one of the labs. It wouldn't even indicate where in the room the student was sitting.

This was specifically talked about and highlighted by an Instructor employee during a session at InstructureCON 6 years ago when I brought this up originally as a great idea and crickets ever since.  I had even suggested it being a little more robust as to send a possible alert if multiple students were taking the test at the same time from the same IP.  Not a warning that they are cheating but as of something you might consider looking at.

This is an ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY feature to have.  Instructors need to see IP addresses of submissions.  We had a severe cheating case recently where a student's logins (and therefore assignment completions) were coming from Kenya.  The student lived in California.  She had paid someone to do her coursework.  There were alternating logins from the two places.  It was very hard to get this information - it should just be given to the instructor by default!

The Radar idea stage has been removed from the Feature Idea Process.  You can read more about why in the blog post Adaptation: Feature Idea Process Changes.

This change will only impact the stage sort of this idea and will not change how it is voted on or how it is considered during prioritization activities.  This change will streamline the list of ideas 'open for voting', making it easier for you to see the true top voted ideas in one sort, here.

Chiming in that this would be a really nice (and easy to implement) feature to have. It gets really old having to download csv files and manually analyze this data. This should be a no-brainer.

As an admin, would really love to have this functionality added for when I am consulting with an instructor or they send an inquiry about a possible academic integrity issue.
