Rename Navigation Links for Assignments, Quizzes, Pages, & Discussions

We recommend that teachers make the most out of Modules so that students are working out of the modules ONLY. That being said, the navigation links cause a lot of confusion for students and families if the teacher does not hide those navigation links from their view. It would be great to collapse the Navigation Links for Assignments, Quizzes, Pages, & Discussions under a drop down menu titled, "Manage" then select what you are wanting to mange: the assignments, quizzes, pages, and/or discussions. This would be FABULOUS!

At our university, it would be extremely unhelpful to hide tools like Assignments and Quizzes by default.  I suspect there are many instructors who will find Modules too complex and confusing to learn, and not all departments have instructional designers to assist with creating course content.  That said, we would prefer other tools, such as system-wide LTI integrations and Studio, to be hidden by default unless the instructors need to use them.  While developers can hide some LTI tools by default, it's not as easy to hide the built-in Canvas tools such as Studio.

There needs to be a way for individual institutions to set what tools are visible and hidden in the Course Navigation by default.  I think such an option would solve multiple use cases, including the one @NicoleSimmons mentioned above.  I think this could be done easily by adding a tab in the account Admin area for Course Nav Defaults, and a table similar to what is shown in the Apps tab for all Canvas tools that appear in Course Navigation, with a column to toggle the default display of Visible/Hidden.  In the back-end, the toggle would be setting "default disabled" to true or false as desired.

Below is an extremely crude mock-up of how a Course Nav Defaults page could look, with screenshots taken and slightly edited from the Apps area.

I also posted the comment above as a separate idea suggestion: Allow schools to set default visibility for each tool teachers can add to Course Navigation.
