Replace media in Studio

It would be very useful if Studio would allow you to replace a media, because when you have a video on many pages on Canvas and the professor wants to modify some part of the video generating a new file to be uploaded to the Studio, it is necessary to replace the video in all pages, if the substitution were made directly in Studio, all pages where the video is, would be updated.

Yes the shared idea is similar, can be of great help in various contexts. But I think knowing where the media is inserted, then making the substitution will still generate a lot of effort, replacing it in one place and reflecting that for everyone else would save a lot of time.

A possible complication would be when the video contains a graded quiz.  if something changes in the quiz or content, replacing the media file could very well impact courses already underway.

Here is a use case:  a Dean creates a welcome video for all faculty and this is then linked on a wiki page within nearly 800 course templates.  When the video needs an update, currently there is a requirement to change the link within all the wiki pages.   It would be very useful to simply replace the source video so none of the links or embed code requires editing.

Of course a workaround is to post the embed code to a public web page and then just update the web page with the new embed code whenever needed.  Or create a seemingly complex process of using the Canvas API to update all these wiki pages.

Google Drives supports this with versions of files and it is very helpful.

This is a valuable function - we can do this in Microsoft Stream, and also in Vimeo. It saves a HUGE amount of work when we embed videos hosted in those platforms - please consider this!!!!!
