Scrolling Quiz Timer

This idea has been developed and deployed to Canvas

When students are taking a Quiz or Test through Canvas, there is a running timer that stays at the top throughout the test. Many students have recommended this timer follow them as they scroll down to each question for them to more easily see how much time is remaining.  This is especially helpful for tests that have essay questions, or are for an extended period of time where they will need to pace themselves with each question.

@ccmgyf ‌ - I think this is a great idea. Having the timer always visible is pretty important for timed tests. An alternative (or an option) to this new feature idea could be a locked timer at the top, where everything else scrolls except the timer. Then the timer wouldn't have to "catch up" during scrolling.

A feature similar to this is already built and delivered as a part of Quizzes.Next.

Yes that's great but Quizzes Next still doesn't have feature parity with Quizzes 1.0 and missing some critical features. Our university is still having to use Quizzes 1.0 with large BYOD in-class exams, so the lack of a scrolling timer with questions displayed all at once gets very annoying for students. They have to scroll up to see the timer, and if it's a final exam with 100 questions, that's quite inconvenient.
