Tag assignments by subject area

Elementary Teachers who are self contained would like to manage only 1 Canvas Course.  It would be great if there was a way to tag assignments so that grades are synced to the appropriate area of the gradebook in PowerSchool.

Customarily, teachers create Assignment Groups in Canvas that correspond exactly with the Assignment Categories available for a class in PowerSchool. Are you proposing development of new functionality for the Canvas-PowerSchool integration that would allow a single Canvas course to populate entries across multiple classes in PowerSchool?

Yes, so that if a teacher tags an assignment as Science then the grade would sync to the science area of the PowerSchool gradebook.

Thanks for clarifying this,  @kapp_c ‌. The idea will move forward for general discussion. As the conversation unfolds, please know that development of this functionality will require not only Canvas but also PowerSchool to devote resources to the project, so please make sure that your school makes their interest known to PowerSchool.

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
