Viewing Promethean Flipcharts

Many schools use Promethean Boards to display lessons and teacher material. It would be great if teachers could post these flipcharts in Canvas and have them rendered in preview mode instead of students having to download them. The base software used is ActivInspire so that is probably a better description of what needs to be visualized. This would be great on the internet site as well as the iPad app.

If the capability to preview is not possible, maybe an LTI could be produced to display the flipcharts.

Typically, it is the responsibility of the third-party vendor to develop an LTI tool for Canvas. This is part of why Canvas employs an open API. I just checked Promethean's website, and they already have LMS integration available - Look under "Also Included" in Plans. It has every appearance of being a for fee integration.

I would check with the Canvas Admins at your school.

Hi Bill:

I assumed you were a teacher, then suggested you contact yourself - as it seems now that I read your signature line.

It appears to be a nice product. If it's not too much bother, could you come back in later and ball-park us on what they are asking for their integration. I am guessing it might be an FTE based fee, but am curious.

It looks like Promethean is ‘retiring’ the ActivInspire software, what a pity ☹

They are suggesting migrating all Flipcharts to ClassFlow Desktop, but from what I can tell this does not have some of the more powerful features of ActivInspire.

We found this out a couple of weeks ago and were shocked. We have built ActivInspire/ActivStudio flipcharts for years and now, with little warning, they are implementing ClassFlow which has very limited capabilities for "old" flipcharts. Will see what we can get done.

Great news .... Promethean has done a 180 ... and are now saying that they will continue to support ActivInspire.

Our Product Team reviewed some of our oldest feature proposals recently, and this thread was identified as one that they would not be able to include in their current or future plans. While we appreciate your proposal, we also want to be transparent about the likelihood of something like this making it to production.
