Word Document upload as Quiz

In order to truly help teachers during these uncertain times when most schools are going digital, it would be a HUGE help if you could somehow allow us to upload full quizzes and tests that we have already created on our own time into Canvas.  That way we don't have to completely reinvent the wheel.  It doesn't seem like we should have to copy and paste every single individual question/item as that is majorly time consuming when our time is already very limited.

Thanks for sharing this idea. Please add your comments to the discussion underway at https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/2086-create-item-banks-from-msword ; while the original idea focuses on an admin's role in the process, the totality of the conversation encompasses the broader need to facilitate this at the instructor level. We've archived this idea to eliminate the duplication.

When I was teaching, my school offered its instructors access to the Respondus 4.0 authoring tool, which I used extensively to create quizzes from Word files. If your school provides this, you will find instructions for using the tool in https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/admins/blog/2015/12/07/batch-uploading-quiz-questions-with-re...

Thanks, Suzanna. Stay safe, and stay well. Smiley Happy

https://pypi.org/project/text2qti/0.1.0/ works quite well. It does not take much computer savvy to install python (it may already be installed on your machine) and to convert text quizzes to QTI. It takes a little bit of reformatting of your text quizzes, but it sure beats cutting and pasting into the quiz maker in Canvas or having to buy Respondus (which was not an option for me because I'm on Mac).
