assignment group and muzak

[1] Give profs the option to TURN OFF the assignment group column in grade book.  This is confusing to students who need to earn points.  At times the percentages in this column read over 100% which is not only non ad rem but also misleading.  Give profs the option to remove this column if it is unnecessary for a particular course.  Simple and helpful.

[2] Give callers to you help line the option of continue holding WITHOUT having to listen to MUZAK.  We realize that this can be helpful to some people who begin to believe that they have been disconnected.  Not all professors are this ignorant.  While waiting for assistance, some professors actually continue to study and find this MUZAK annoying.  Some, more advanced companies, will say at the outset:  Press 1 to continue holding IN SILENCE and press 2 to continue holding with MUZAK.  Simple and helpful.

Thanks for sharing these ideas, @Dr-Pagliari . Currently, instructors can hide both grade totals and assignment group totals from students by enabling "Hide totals in student grade summaries" in the settings area of the course, but they cannot hide only one of the two. If you are comfortable hiding both, instructions are in How do I hide totals in my students' grade summari...

The idea that requests the ability to hide only the assignment group columns, while leaving the total grade column visible, is the topic of discussion at  Hide Assignment group grades.

Turning to the second idea in your submission, we'll bring this to the attention of our support team.

Whenever you'd like to share suggestions for improvement to Canvas and other Instructure products in the Idea Conversations forum, we encourage you to first read through How do I create a new idea conversation in the Canvas Community? for guidance on searching this forum and writing singular prompts.

Thanks again.
