TASK

Create a place on every Canvas page that keeps track of whatever page you've worked on or looked at in the past 24 hours, including any Canvas instructional videos, Pages, Assignments, Discussion pages, whether created, edited, or just viewed.

PURPOSE

To have a method of keeping track of where you've been during convoluted searches so that when you pause on information not necessarily related to your current search but vital to some other problem you have or anticipate, you can easily find your way back to it once the current search/task is accomplished.

This will help alleviate the long lines/times for Canvas help, relieve the information overload that happens when you work to resolve your issue or find answers to questions on your own, and possibly make items or pages that have "disappeared" retrievable.

@denise_sargent

Thanks for sharing this idea. As currently written we cannot move it forward for possible prioritization, because it requests "a place on every Canvas page"—which would in turn require modifications to many different features within Canvas, including the Pages list, the Assignments list, Assignments, the Discussions list, Grades,...and so forth. Would you please suggest a modification that specifies a single place in a course where such a list might reside?

We'll keep the idea in Moderating status in the interim.

The upcoming Canvas release is going to make you very happy! Check out the Global Navigation | Recent History section of the Canvas Release Notes (2020-10-17):

The Global Navigation Menu includes a Recent History link, which displays recently visited pages in Canvas; this will help users remember what page they last viewed in one or multiple courses.
